Few words strike fear in us like “cancer,” no matter if it is concerning a human or furry friend. In the event your pet develops cancer, Dr. Carr and his compassionate staff are here to treat your pet. Our facility has the ability to administer chemotherapy, as well as monitor their blood counts to insure they are as healthy as possible during this complicated process. Our years of experience, combined with our state-of-the-art medications and monitoring equipment give your animal the best opportunity they have for a successful treatment of cancer.

Dental Care

Good oral hygene is not only important for people, but for our pets too! Bacteria accumulates in plaque on the teeth above the gumline, and can lead to many oral health issues. Long-term bacteria and plaque can also damage the kidneys, intestinal tract and even your pet’s joints. A healthy diet and regular teeth cleaning can add years to your pet’s life. Dr. Carr and his team have years of experience in animal dental care, and can take care of your pet as well. Schedule an appointment to have your pet’s teeth examined and cleaned today!

Does your pet have skin issues? Seeing your dog or cat consistently scratch at their skin is not a natural occurrence and needs to be treated. Dr. Carr is experienced in treating skin conditions in dogs and cats ranging from hot spots to flea allergy dermatitis. He can diagnose the cause of your pet’s itch and prescribe a solution for the problem. You can bring relief to your pet as well as yourself by scheduling an appointment with Pelham Animal Clinic.

Hospice Care

Unfortunately in every pet’s lives, there comes a time to say goodbye. When that time comes for your beloved pet, bring them to our compassionate doctor and staff at Pelham Animal Clinic. We can also maintain your pet if possible for hospice care until you are ready for your pet to pass on. Dr. Carr and the staff at Pelham have the utmost compassion and respect for you at this time, and will provide your friend with the attention they deserve at this difficult time.

In-House Diagnostics

When you become sick, your doctor often runs blood work to determine how your organs are functioning, as well as what your red and white blood cell and platelet counts are. These same tests are equally important not only when your pet may be sick, but also when they are young and healthy to establish a baseline of your pet’s blood work numbers as well. We can complete most blood tests in less than half an hour, enabling us to determine your animal’s needs very quickly. Dr. Carr can also run these tests on your healthy pet so we can take the best preventative care possible!

Have you ever lost a pet? It is one of the worst feelings that a pet parent may have to endure. Today however, there is a much greater chance of your pet returning home if they are microchipped. Each microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and they are inserted just under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip contains a unique dog or cat code which will positively identify them if they are lost and are taken to a veterinarian or animal shelter.

Nutritional Counseling

A healthy diet is as important for your pet as it is for you and your human family members. Pets should be given a diet that is made for them and should never be given table scraps or leftovers. Dr. Carr has extensive experience in recommending the proper diet for pets in Pelham and the surrounding areas. Overweight pets face the same issues as we do, including diabetes, heart disease and joint and mobility problems. Schedule an appointment today with Dr. Carr at Pelham Animal Clinic to get guidance on proper nutrition for your furry friend.

Pain Management

Pelham Animal Clinic is equipped with a complete pharmacy and can help reduce the pain your pet may be facing. Surgical procedures are painful for people as well as pets. We recommend preventative pain management for all of our surgeries. Also, many pets develop arthritis and other age-related pain and joint issues as they get older. Dr. Carr can recommend the right medication to keep your pet on the move as long as possible.

Our clinic pharmacy includes the latest antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives available. Dr. Carr attends numerous educational events and conferences each year in order to insure we carry only the best for the life of your pet. We also have a full-line of prescription diets available for your convenience.

When an external exam simply does not provide all the answers for your pet, our hospital is equipped with advanced imaging technology to help diagnose their issues. X-Ray imaging allows Dr. Carr to make immediate decisions for the health of your pet. X-Rays can be extremely beneficial in cases including:

  • Fractures or breaks
  • Objects swallowed by your pet
  • Tumors
  • Bladder stones
  • Joint issues
  • Other cases where physical exam does not reveal an underlying problem

In the majority of cases, our experienced doctor can use the radiograph to determine what may be wrong with your dog or cat. In special cases, a board-certified radiologist may be consulted.

Pelham Animal Clinic is a state-of-the-art small animal hospital that is here for your pet’s surgical needs. Prior to surgery, we recommend running bloodwork to determine if your dog or cat has any conditions that cannot be seen by a physical examination. Our compassionate doctor and staff also recommend pain medication to help your pet be as comfortable as possible during and after the surgery. Once your pet is ready, our surgical suite contains the latest surgical monitoring equipment which helps Dr. Carr and his staff to monitor their vital signs during the procedure. After the surgery, Dr. Carr and his staff continue to monitor your dog or cat to ensure they recover safely.
